More Suspension Questions
Has anyone ever,or does anyone have an idea about flipping the front axle and rear end to the top of the leaf springs? Problems, advice, doubts, laughs, cussings, anything would help!!!! Also Does anyone know of a"direct" bolt in rear end (modern & Dependable) for my 55f100 ?? 9" prefered, but would consider GM 10 or 12 bolt....

a 9" from 57-72 will bolt in to the 53-56's. You will need to modify the u-bolts and plate as the 9" has a larger diameter than the Dana 44. If you can get a long yoke on the rearend you can use the same driveshaft. Like mentioned in an earlier post, then you can pick an appropriate gear ratio for your application. Heck, you can have extras for when you want a highway gear or when you want a tire-smoking posi unit.

You can't flip the front axle since the mounting pad for the springs is made into the axle. Even if you could flip the axle, or you can modify or put modified springs on, you always run into clearance problems with the frame. There just isn't enough room between the springs and the frame. A dropped axle may work.
