IRRATIC Tach!!!!!!
When I got it I will set and idle about 700 RPM.I rev it up and it takes a while for it to register, then it cant be readint right.
I got in and took off the other morning and found it ammusing to see it red line at 6 grand but when I steped on gas it went all the way around once maybe twice. LOL!!!
My Truck is a 4.9 engine, 1987 f150 4 speed,4x4
The tach was acting real weird since I go it as I said but I have been busy repairing rust to fix this problem. The time has about come to fix it.
So I need your expertise in troubleshooting my Tach.
Anyone have any ideas?

I didn't know the needle would go all the way around.
1. check fuse
if fuse blows find short
2. check for loose wiring connections in engine compartment or at instrument cluster
secure loose connections
3. inspect inst. cluster printed circuit for damage, poor connections or open circuits
if damaged replace instr. cluster.
