Just purchased a 06 EB 4x4 and was driving it at night when I noticed that the information center lights would get bright then dim. I can't find any causes, but you can turn the blinker on and it will flash with the blinker. But it will do it just driving down the freeway, not using the blinker.
I have it at the dealership now trying to fix it but I thought I would see if any body has experienced this.
I thought I posted this in this forum the other day. But some how it made it in the 07 forum.
Usually flaring of lights is indication of charging system problems, but sometimes if its just limited to instrument cluster it could be a dimmer module or a ground, or even a fault in the wiring or the cluster itself. Just too many possibilities without hands on troubleshooting.
I once had an Oldsmobile with a shorted taillight bulb. The turn signal element was shorted to the regular taillight element. Whenever the turnsignal was turned on all parking and dash lights flashed. Who knows, maybe you have something like this. Hard to figure out, easy to fix.
I got the vehicle back yesterday afternoon, they said that the Ford hotline told them to add more grounds to the back to the cluster.
They said it didn't act up for them after that. So maybe it is fixed. I just thought I would sent out this thread to see if I could speed up the repair if other's had the same problem.
