I just started changing my own oil in the truck, switched to 5w40 rotella. Is there anything that i should be doing besides the filter and oil when i do this. Anything else that needs attention? Also does anyone have any diagrams of where i should be lubing the chassis? Thanks, i'm still new to these big trucks sometimes.
walmart takes the old oil for free and rotella or delvac is always on sale there. i get away with less than $ 40.00 .
at my old lube shop they were up to $ 75.00 per change. frickin' outrageous. i told my buddy/the manager i couldnt do it anymore and he offered to cut me a break. but i told him no thanks. they have really come up on their prices in the last year.
i think they figure since i can afford a diesle i must be rich or dumb enough to blow $$ for the oil change. its not just one shop, all over town diesle oil changes have gone up.
When we were taking our big trucks in for PMs they used to be $125 until last year. They have since jumped to $215! for the Pickups, they run $105. We purchased an OilVac system and air grease gun and have saved hundreds. We buy the rotella T in 55 gal drums for 7.50/gal and Tamko buys our used oil!
