Can anyone help me. I had my clutch replaced last yr. and I am starting to loose the fluid out of my resouvoir and I cant find where it is going. I had this problem before and it would only do this when it got cold and now it is doing it agin. I cant figure it out .I thought before it was just an old system and had a leak but now Im not sure. Also I filled the tranny with fluid and when I do it will leak out of the rear seal until it gets to about 3/4 of a qt. low and stops, is this a bad rear seal? By the way 93 Ranger 145,000 on engine and 11,000 on new clutch in 05.
Look on the side of the transmission there should be a rubber cover on the drivers side of the bellhousing area pull that off and look inside see if the slave clyinder is wet then there is your leak. This was the exact symptoms my 03 exhibited and it was the slave clyinder leaking the colder it got the worse it was. Pulled tranny and replaced they cost about $50.00 from Oreilly's. And yes it sounds like a bad rear seal on tranny. Replace it when you pull the tranny to fix the slave clyinder. Check the drive shaft slip yoke and make sure there isn't a deep wear ring on it if there is you probably ought to replace it as well or you will have trouble with it sealing.
Thanks for all info. I will try to check all of these areas tomorrow. As far as the slave cylinder goes it was replaced along with everything else other than the flywheel.
