Does it make a noise but the lock buttons don't work properly? If so it could be your lock actuators, I have that problem in my '00

have a 2000 which I just programmed a new remote a few days ago. The procedure was in my owner's manual. You simply sit in the drivers seat with the remote you wish to program and any other remotes you currently possess. You place your key in the ignition in position 3 (1 is auxillary, 2 is key entry, 3 is off, 4 is ignition on, 5 is start). You then turn the key from position 3 to 4 6 to 8 times within 10 seconds. The power locks will unlock and lock to confirm you are in the program mode. You then press a button on your remote within 20 seconds, pressing the button should cause the locks to do what the button indicates. If you have another remote you need to press a button on it also within 20 seconds or it will be unprogrammed. Once you have finished programming all of your remotes wait out the 20 seconds or so and the Expy will leave the program mode by unlocking/locking the doors as before. Hope this helps!

Actually, when you program a remote to the system the remote itself isn't programmed rather the receiver learns the frequency of the remote so that it will operate. You can program up to 6 remotes to one vehicle if I remember correctly. I have about 3 or 4 extra remotes cuz I used to be a salesman at a large Ford dealership and they were always floating around and I always picked up the loose ones and brought them home.
