its stuck

so i have a 1973 351C 2V and its all stock except for a semi new intake, but the distributor is stuck and i can't even twist it. But the good news is the engine runs. i am taking the engine out this weekend to take it apart and rebuilding it so then it can go back in the ranchero...I am looking to port and polish, a nice cam, get a square bore carb and upgrade the pistons to help the compression ratio and put some headers on it. but back to the subject how do i unstick the distributor?

When you get the pan off knock the distributor out from the inside. Always use anti-seize anywhere steel or iron touches aluminum.

Try turning engine backwards. Have someone turn and put pressure on dist. The cut gears will help force the dizzy out.

Gotta watch the anti-seize dont mix with the oil! Sorta works backwards in a engine. Hard on bearings

Just beat the hell out of the vacuum advance pot side to side with a rubber hammer like you are making serious timing adjustments. Once it comes loose that way you should find that it most likely will come out. This issue has been addressed a few times on this board. Answers have been spray lube, prying, beating, heating, tapping from the bottom and even using "the force". With all of that, everyone agrees on installing it with anti-seize or synthetic grease to keep the metallic conflict from causing further pain.
