With two of my trucks that had cruise that didn't work I checked to make sure everything was hooked up and in working order and then when I was driving it for more than two hours somewhere I would push and wiggle the buttons from time to time and low and behold they started working. Now I use them all the time and the more I use them the better they work. It took twenty or thirty tries over a period of an hour or so both times. It was probably just dirty contacts in the switches.
