I need help troubleshooting my engine trouble. The truck starts just fine, and it seems to run alright when the engine is cold, but when it warms up the motor misses during acceleration and while maintaining speeds below 45 MPH. I changed the spark plugs and wires but that didn't fix anything. My truck is an 86 F-150 302 FI V8.
try ignition coil. on my 87 302 efi it would only start if the truck was cold, it would never start when warm. the coils are mounted to the valve cover so they get hot easy. Also possibly control module on distributor.
PULL CODES, always do this first before replacing anything. otherwise your just chasing ghosts. www.fordfuelinjection.com will show you how using a paper clip and a few mins of your time.
how many miles on the motor, what kinda spark plugs you using. the TFI module mounted on the dizzy will cause issues like this as well. all suggestions above are good to follow for sure.
