Yes code is correct. I have a CEL on. I do get some rough starts especially after it is hot. Sometimes it feels like it has a loss of power. Until, I really step on the gas. I also have a 332 code EGR which I am working on. I have changed plugs and wires. Any thoughts or help?
As noted CM214 indicates an error in the CID signal. I haven't had to deal with a CM214 on my '92, and my '92 is batch fire EFI rather than SEFI, so the diagnostics might not match up anyway.
I believe on your SEFI system, CID is generated by the CAMP (camshaft position sensor). I'm not sure if the signal passes through the ICM or not.
The first thing I would do (if it were me) would be to go to the library, pull out a good manual, and look up the pinpoint test for a CM 214 for a '94. That should have all the information you need. A decent wiring diagram won't hurt either.
That's what my 94 was doing. It was the camshaft position sensor. They can be pricey. The shop said there cost was over $300. My son works at a parts store and was able to get one for $240. You might do some research on this as how to check it. I was told you use a tester on the plug and look for a wave pattern. Mine was a constant voltage. Guess one wire is a power wire and another is a ground. Not sure how many other wires there are. My freind the mechanic who worked on it said the book calls for time to remove the upper intake but he was able to remove and install with out that. Another mechanic friend said I could have bought just the sensor instead of the whole unit that fits in distributor bore at the rear of the engine. But he thought that a special device was needed to set up the new sensor.
