hey i have a 1986 5.0 F-150 EfI my gas gauge doesnt work and trying to keep up with how many miles i go with the stress goin on in the world today is a hassle, so can anyone tell me what i can do to fix it?
if the guage is pegged high then you have it grounded out, if its pegged low either you have a bad connection or your sending unit went bad... what id do is drop the gas tank and check the wiring for the sending unit... try to trace the wiring back to the guage and look for breaks
Been there, done that. My gauge would read full for about 10 miles after a fill-up, and nose-dive to empty and stay there. Even my truck gets better tank mileage than that!!!
Bought a new tank sending unit from FORD for this old monster. Nice to have an accurate gauge now! I can almost hear the gas sucking out of the tank as I ride along watching the gauge drop slowly to empty!
hey thanks for the responses but it seems that it will have to wait cause ol' blue seems to not want to run. thought it was the carb, rebuilt it now thinkin its a gas problem AND the truck sounds as if its runnin on 4 cylinders at an idle but sounds stong when you rev it up, but idk oh well
