Tranny swap.........

Tranny swap.........
Hello all............
I own a 1983 F250 w/351W and C6 tranny. I'm restoring this truck as I like the style and because I don't have to worry about emissions/cats. I've restored many Buick GranSports over the past 35 years and figured I'd try my hand with a truck.
I'd like to dump the C6 tranny. Mudman was kind enough to tell me an AOD tranny will bolt in without too many problems. I'd like to know if anyone has done this swap and what the basic procedures are? Is the tranny linkage the same on the C6 and AOD? Is the tranny cross member the same? Is the drive shaft input shaft the same number of splines on the C6 and AOD? Is the vacuum setup the same on the C6 and AOD tranny? What kind of dash pod would I have to use to show the new shift selector letters or will the stock 1,2,D setup be okay to use? Any electrical issues, down shift/throttle linkage issues?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...and Merry Christmas to everyone.
Regards,
Gordon

AOD has a throttle valve cable or linkage. Without it, or without proper adjustment, the tranny doesn't shift right, up or down, and you soon have a smokin' pile.
