What do you people think about installing a 429 V8 in a 1948-1952 F1? I have the motor and am debating on doing this in the future. Just curious as to what you guys think about it. Thanks!
1978 F-150 flareside. Primitive by todays standards but she was a jaw dropper back then. :-staun
Ive seen that done several times. Heavy but if you get rid of the stock intake and manifolds it wont be too much for a stock suspension. You may have problems finding headers that fit.
Hello on page 3 of this area look at 429 in a 53 someone else has already asked the question and it has 5 replys. Its pretty informative in regards to problems you may find and wieght on the front suspensiong and traction problems and fitting problems. But hell check it out and see what you think. Good luck and enjoy what ever you decide on..
It has certainly been done before. Weight is not a big issue and I am sure you have the room under the hood. Only caution I would offer is the truck will definitely have the capability of 100MPH plus. Are you going to do the necessary improvements to the braking, steering and suspension so your ride will be safe? It will be expensive. Not that you intend to drive your truck fast but someone just may someday. Just my two cents.
I have a 49 F-1 that I also am putting a Big Block (460 ci 500+ hp) engine in. I have already purchased a Gibbons front end kit to incorporate the Chrysler torsion bar suspension, 9" disc brake rear end, etc. I have not yet gotten to the exhaust manifold problem. So if anyone out there has used this same combination and found headers to fit. Could you please drop me a note on the message board or to huggym36(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
