i have a 1980 f150 4x4 with a 5.0 and manual lockouts and a auto.
it seems like it does have any power it run fine at idle but when u take off its slow new plugs and carb rebuild

Check the ignition timing. This will help to optomize the stock motor, and costs nothing. Ofton you will have the timing set to the point were it runs fine (smooth as butter), but there's not enough advance to get much power. It should be at least 10* and perhaps as much as 12*, ( set at idle with the vacuum disconected of course) by my experiance.
If you want big time power, then you will need to start replacing parts.
