57-60 Box Lengths?
Is the 57-60 Styleside 8' bed long enough to haul 4'x 8' sheets of plywood flat with the tailgate closed?
Also, is there any difference in these beds 57-60? What about this same style of bed that Ford continued to use on some 61-65's?
Just doing some research...
Thanks,
Brett
You can definately haul 4'x8' sheets with the tailgate closed.
The dimensions are:
94.44" inside length from front panel to inside of rear bed panels. 96.5" from front panel to tailgate.
49" inside width between wheel housings.
19.09" height from the floor to the top of the sides
They have a 70.55 cubic foot capacity (allowing for wheel housings).
51.25" width of tailgate opening
Nominal payload (in Lbs.) F-100 = 1,515 and F-250 = 3,495 (different but not due to the bed).
There were no differences on the 8' styleside bed between the years of '57-'60, nor on the '60's trucks that continued to use them. Hope this helps you!
Thanks for the reply. I like your website. Long ago I drove a '56 F250 Flareside and (if I'm remembering the right truck) that box could carry 4'x8' sheets with about an inch to spare all around. My neighbor had a '56 ch*v 3200 and that box was an inch or two too short, so you had leave the tailgate down. So Ford was thinking even then.
Thanks Again,
Brett
