my fault I thought that this being the forum for fords between 1948 and 72 that you could ask ? about flatheads because they were in 1948-1953 trks silly me.
Sorry about the short reply Suter - didn't mean to sound grouchy - go ahead and ask where you want. I just get a little defensive about the flathead when I watch the forum sit idle day after day.
I did answer your question though - the flatheads are internally balanced requiring no harmonic balancer. I understand some guys have tried them but with very little measurable improvement.
To get an answer from the experts I suggest you connect to fordbarn.com and ask the guys on the forum there.
Are you sure you want to hook it up to a C6? That tranny consumes up to 65% of your hp just to get moving. When you start with 100, it doesn't leave much. It's true as you go thru the gears the ratio improves quickly, but you might be better off using a C4.
