does anyone know how or where to find authentic old license plates

At the Delmar swap meet in Houston, I got a guys card that restores old plates... He had a huge collection from about 1950 up... (lots of older ones too) a restored pair of 62 plates were 40$ and a set of 53's were 80$... I'll see if I can find his card...
