Hey guys, last night I test drove an F-150 King Ranch and took a look at the Lariat. Which interior, in your opinions, is more durable? Currently, I drive a '98 Expedition Eddie Bauer which is in excellent shape inside. The leather is barely cracking after 132K miles, aside from the armrest. My question to you all is - which interior will look better after 10 years and x-amount of miles with proper care? I've heard that the King Ranch, with proper care, should last a long deal of time.
I have been researching the same question. I have a very good friend that sales me all my ford trucks. After owning several xlt lariat's. I thought it was time for something diff. That being a king ranch. When talking to my salesmen friend about the king ranch. He said that the king ranch leather is very tough. (it should be, it's saddle leather) The thing that he did not like is the leather will scratch, fade and weather very bad if you don't stay up on the conditioning. I know the people with the king ranches will have something diff. to say. That was his honest answer. After all, he could have sold me anything. After all this I got the lariat instead. Good luck on your dec.
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense because it is saddle leather. I am curious to see what the higher-mileage King Ranch owners have to say. Thanks for your input goose2
if the leather is the similar to what they put in my 93 bronco, then you'll be surprised at how well the leather will hold up
year: 1993
color: blue
damage: armrest was cracking and the part where your butt rubs on the edge of the seat when you climb in/out of the truck was cracking
mileage: 293,000
If you want to see some higher milage king ranch models. Go on to ebay or auto trader.com and see if they have some for sale on there. They would surely have some photos of the interior.
Goose2, I've done quite a bit of looking around on ebay and have found as you stated earlier that they fade. It doesn't appear that they are easy to crack, though.
tylus, I just wish I had a Bronco! I saw a '96 Bronco, fully loaded with the 5.8 with approx. 5K miles on it. Brand new and beautiful! The leather on those cars do hold up quite well as if I condition my leather it returns to its soft and smooth state.
