Charging System Guage

When driving the truck with the fan switch on, or the A/C on, or the lights on...any engine load, the guage drops very low. I've replaced the alternator several times with the same result. I've also done the repair on the alternator harness. Does anyone know of any fix for this?

Thanks...

As long as your battery remains properly charged so it will start & run is an indication everything is working properly.
Maybe your guage isnt reading properly. I had to replace the alternator/water temp guage on my 88 f-250 when it quit working all together.

Another problem could be a weak battery consuming a substantial portion of your alternators charging capacity in order to keep it charged.

So glad you posted...

about 2 weeks ago my battery went dead. " I knew it was going but just didn't do anything about it"

I replaced it with the biggest and best that walmart had. " that's where I was went it went south"

I have been noticing the same results as you.

I was thinking that my alt may need replacing but with no load on system it reads just fine.

I'm not sure if the guage means that's the power that the alt is putting out for if that's the power that the battery is using

thanks again
