1) if you open or close a door, the interior dome light(s) will come on and stay on for 25 seconds unless you start the truck's engine.
2) Also, if you are running the engine, and then turn it off (turning the ignition to position 1), the dome light(s) will come on and stay on for 25 seconds. If you leave the key in position 3, the light will go out, but the various chime/warning systems stay on.
I'd prefer to only have the dome light(s) on when a door is open, or if I turn them on manually.
Is there any way to program or control this behavior?

Anyone have an owner's manual? I believe page 90 (on my 2004 version) might be of use to you ... about enabling/disabling perimeter lighting. I don't know if it would solve your problem or not, but it's worth checking out.
I believe the question was how to disable the Illuminated Entry feature described on page 90 of the owners manual. There does not seem to be a way to disable this feature. This system not only illuminates the interior, but the cargo box as weel. I find that part of the system to be bothersome and would like to disable that part of the system.
Drives me crazy as well. When I turn the truck off the dome lights come on and you cant see a dam thing outside. In these days we live in, I WANT to see outside. I already know whats inside!!!! If I can figure this out Ill post it up.
