ok guys, i already asked about the clutch fork.... well i have come to find that i can't buy a new clip that holds the clutch fork on the pivot. i have called out to california.... no one makes them anymore. i know some of you guys have swapped out your manual 3 speeds for a 4 speed or an automatic....right? so does anyone have a spare clutch fork with the spring clip/pin? if i don't find one my truck will be sitting in the garage, finally lowered all the fabrication and work done....but it won't move if i can't engage and dis-engage the clutch. i know this isn't the classifieds, but i am a man in a precarious situation. if anyone knows where i can find a clutch fork pin/spring clip please let me know.
thanks guys, tony
I was in the same position a few years back and I took my truck to a mechanic to put it back together, which he did without that clip, and told me it was only needed to help get everything back together. He had the advantage of a lift and I did not. That's why I could not get it back together, the fork and throwout bearing kept falling out of place. Can anyone verify that the clip is only for reassembly? By the way, my truck functioned perfectly after he put it back together. Good luck.
The spring is there all the time...holy cow...obsolete? I'd think some obsolete place would have one, as hard parts usually don't sell as well as chrome and sheet metal. Try Green Sales in Cincinnati, Ohio...one of the largest obsolete parts sellers. Sorry...can't recall the part number...but I will have books and fische going soon here and can help more with decoding VIN's and part number help.
That clip needs to be there...if we're talking about the curly cued one on the fork.

i just found one in my newest LMC book. i had given up, i was going to pull the trans. and make something else work. i couldn't believe it wasn't in LMC before, but now it is. yes, that clip has to be there, if not the clutch fork falls off the pivot. does anyone have a photo of the bell housing with the clutch fork on it? i am not even sure how the clip goes back on. i hope the clip is all i need....i guess i will find out when it gets here in the mail. thanks guys, tony
