engine ticking/knocking
I have 99 F250 SD that recently started having a kinda ticking/knocking sound, more when under a load or accelerating. Was thinking maybe a valve sticking or a lifter. Any ideas what it may be and an easy fix. thanks.

I have the same truck with a 5.8 liter with 180,000 kilometers. I had a ticking noise like you describe and was told it was an exhaust manifold gasket leak (apparently a common problem with these engines). Turned out it was also valve lash adjusters (lifters). I ended up having top end rebuilt.

Could be the PCV valve. Mine recently started making all kinds of racket.
Other than that, my 5.8 has had an odd ticking sound since I bought it three years ago. Never did find it, & finally quit looking.
