Ignition vs Clutch
Recently acquired a 1992 Ford F-150 5speed 4-wheel drive
Within the last few weeks I have noticed that when I turn the key, occationaly nothing happens. Now I know the battery is working fine, because when open the door, the interior light comes on, all the lights on the dash come on, the bell for the seat belt rings. Just that when I depress the clutch and turn the key ...I get nadda. I have taken the truck out of gear as well. I try to release clutch and depress and turn key again..sometimes it starts right away...sometimes it takes me 20 to 30 tries..and oh..are those normally the day I am running late!
The ignition is a bit wiggly but not a ton of play...I dont have a ton of keys..have a break away key chain so when I start the truck, I remove the rest of the keys.
My question really is...how do I determine if it the ignition switch or if it could be the clutch linkage or assembly ( or whatever its called)? now I am not a gearhead so dont be too technical please!
