Hey Peeps..this is my first FORD to own and its a 87 Bii.. I honestly can say that I have been really impressed with its handling..Iam the second owner..
Anywho.. My wheelin Rig is a Heep/Jeep XJ... I have a spair frontend and was wondering about swapping in my spare Dana 30 and getting rid of the TTB front end..I know I will need to build Radius arms and all, Just wondering if anybody hear has and if you could give me some tips...
Iam also on another forum thats more local for me out here in Washington..
Is the Heep 30 drivers side drop? Most folks just go with the early Bronco or 76? and earlier 44. The EB 44 will have the correct width and the stock radius arms are said to bolt up to the Skyjacker extended radius arm cross member. You can do a search for SAS (solid axle swap). Some go with a full width 44 front and rear 9" or 60. C-wedges on the earlier 44's can be cut off and moved. New c-wedges can be purchased for use with stock or modified radius arms.
Yeah the heep is a driverside drop...Thats why I was thinking about it...but now that you mention the older bronco's frontend..then I might go with that..
Iam just researching this..Thats why I posted it...ask and learn yaknow
The Early Bronco 44 had smaller u-joints in the axles than the F series did. So many look for a high pinion 3/4 ton 44 and cut it down or leave it full width and go full width in the rear as well. Full width will give you more wheel travel. Many like the 44 front leave sping axle and cut the spring pads off and install the c-wedges. Cut your spring bucket and shock mount off and install stand alone coil bucket and shock mount. Lots of ways you can go depending on the $$$$'s you want to spend. Flat top knuckles/high steer. Still have to fab a track bar/mount and steering. Lots of info out there. Good luck.
The Jeep front end will not work for a few reasons. One of the biggest is the inset of the wheels. If you measure where the rotors will sit I think it will be almost under the BII frame.
