First, Merry Christmas to all.
I joined this board to get some info about trucks. I've restored many Buick GranSports over the past 35 years and have decided to do a truck. Hoping to get some answers about trucks as my knowledge is limited.

1983 Ford tranny swap
Hello all.......
I'm new to trucks but after restoring Buick GranSports for 35 years I've decided to try my hand at something bigger.
My first question is about transmissions. The truck I have has a 1983 F 250 w/ 351W with the C6 tranny. I'm wondering if there is a tranny I can swap into this truck that has a few more gears so to speak. I'm mostly looking to improve gas mileage when cruising on the highway in addition to a ring and pinion change, will another tranny help? I'm willing to install a floor shift to accomodate the swap...if one exists.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
