I was hoping that someone could help me locate a shift lever and a shift lever retention pin. I am not really interested in junk yard diving and I have looked at Dennis Carpenter and LMC and both do not have the item in stock. The shift lever came out and into my hand while driving today. The pin is missing the upper half and the collar broke (easily replaceable). Please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks
Your shift handle should be fine. That's a common problem that used to occur, can't tell you how many shift collars I've sold over the years. I found 2 places for NOS collars, couldn't find a lever. Just re-use yours. The collar comes with the pin. They do offer the collar in repo. It's the same up until 1977 on trucks. Part number is D5TZ 7228-C. It fits Old Falcons, Fairlanes, etc back to 1960.
Green Sales, Cinci, Oh. 1-800-543-4959 ( usually expensive prices here )
Wesley Obs. Liberty, Ky. 1-606-787-5293 ( good people)
They both show 1 each. Call and give part number I listed and ask price and shipping. I'm assuming your truck is a std. shift?
That ear where the pin goes thru is a weak point. THey all break there or the center hub snaps off in the middle. It's a good time to check all the other bushings in the shifter linkage. It's amazing how much slop you'll remove by replacing them.
