electrical frustrations
I have a '69 and am being haunted by a short or a bad ground. When going done the road and hitting bumps the stereo will cut out. It does the same thing when I put it in reverse, and when I turn on the wipers or headlights it loses all power. I have the dash all torn apart and haven't been able to find anything yet. Please reply soon if you have any suggestions this is my daily driver and the only driver I have. My '66 Falcon has the engine out of it, so I am down to one vehicle. I hate electrical, I think it is black magic.

Sounds like a ground issue, run a wire from the radio ground or case to the truck's metal chassis. Use good quality fasteners and terminations. If you are using a wire in the loom for a ground, unhook it. It is probably a switched (lights maybe?) power wire.
Ford radios grounded through the case. I can't count the times someone (including me) used the instrument lighting wire for a ground. Dark with a tracer, hmmmmm.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Now I just have to come up with a new turnsignal switch. the wire broke right by the lil tab that connects it to the cam. I will try to sodder it back together, it appears that it is wired in. Any suggestions here?
