I found out that I can't get my IAC from any local auto parts stores, so I went to Motorcraft's website to lookup the part number. My VIN search retruned two distinct numbers for "Idle Air Control Motor," which were CX1771 and CX2065. When you click on the buyer's guide next each part, it says that both are compatible with a 2003 EX Sport Trac 4.0 SOHC. Then I went to Rockauto and entered the part numbers. They have the CX1771 for $27.89 and the CX2065 for $45.79.
Does anyone have any idea why there are two different numbers, and which one I need? Also, the picture of the IAC on Motorcraft's website for CX1771 looks just like my IAC, but there is no picture for CX2065, so I can't compare them.
It's based off the calibration code of your vehicle, usually printed on a sticker on the drivers door jamb. I would call your dealership parts department, give them you VIN and the calibration code, and have them tell you which part it is.. then cross it from there.
For this exact reason I highly recommend a motorcraft part. A lot of aftermarkets list one valve for several vehicles, and while they will bolt on, they will do goofy things due to a different calibration.
