Has anyone ever seen one of these in action in a transit van. I have come across one and I am thinking about installing it behind the C6 in my f250 with 460. My greatest concern is whether or not it will survive there. Parts seem to be available from some of the english sport car websites. There is a serial # on the unit so I might be able to come up with the proper listing. I am told they were put on Ford transit vans in the early 70's. If you know anything about these I would be happy to hear from you.
Thanks,
Sheldon
Go to google and put in "Laycock Engineering" or "Laycock overdrive". It appears the J model was put in Volvos with 4 cylinder engines. (My brother had one, and it had some issues)
It also appears that the Gear Vendors unit is, in fact, an updated Laycock design.
While GV says you can go 1200 hp in front of their unit, I would be skeptical about a stock, unmodified Volvo unit taking on a 460 in a 6000 lb truck.
GV may be able to sell you some parts to make it work, or not.
