Strictly powerstroke here...who here has had a 6.0 with 3.73 and then moved to either a 4.10 dually or the 4.30 towboss? Mileage differences towing/unloaded? Thinking of sticking a set of 4.10 in my 05 F250 4X4, but wondering if I should go with the 4.30. I tow a 11,000# toy hauler several times a year, and it really pulls well just like it is, the mileage pulling is not all that great once you get in the hills though. I average 8mpg towing the toyhauler, 13-15mpg combined city/back country highways and 17-19mpg interstate. I am running stock size tires and don't plan on changing.
On edit, I have already priced the gear sets and it will set me back $800 with shipping. Seems like a alot of money, but not compaired to buying a dually that I don't want, just to get a better gear ratio option.
mrxlh, I had an 03 SRW 6.0 CC with 3.73 and traded for the 06 Tow Boss with 4.30's. I actually prefer the DRW 4.30 overall... The truck is much more nimble around town with the only downside on the highway above 80mph when the mpg takes a nosedive. I average 14-15 mpg unloaded (17-18 hwy) and 10.5-11 mpg towing 14.5k oversize load in mountainous terrain. IMO the 4.10 would be the best of both worlds (towing power & unloaded mpg) especially considering the 6.0's higher rpm torque. Good luck
