Open differential question

Question.

When you burn out in an open differential, is it always a certain wheel that burns out. Every time I burn out in place, my passenger side unsticks. Is there a reason it does it with the passenger side and not the driver's side?

Thanks, just trying to build up a little knowledge.

It's because of the direction the driveshaft spins. It has a rotational effect on the rear axle, and it wants to push one wheel down and lift the other off the ground.

Torque unloads the passenger side tire allowing it to loose traction. Once it looses traction, most of the power goes to that side. Even with a posi or locker, there is torque unloading and in high HP situations, certain measures need to be taken so the car launches straight.

You could put just the driver's side tire on a slick surface and it will spin...but the above explanations are correct when the rears have equal traction.

Oh ok...I always just wondered if there was a certain reason that one wheel unstuck normally. Thank you all.
