if your torque converter was dying you would get a shudder in the truck cruising down the highway or light acceleration, you'll know much soon when pulling heavy loads on the higway.
if the truck is cold and trans is cold the truck has to warm up a little before the torque converter lock up engages, you maybe expearencing this, as well the torque converter does not look in first gear and part of 2nd comparing to my truck.
when cold my truck shifts 1st gear, 2nd, 2nd lock up, 3rd, 3rd lockup, 4th, 4th lockup. almost feels like a 7 speed transmission.
when hot my truck shifts 1st gear, 2nd, 2nd lockup, 3rd lock, 4th lockup. The torque converter lock up is instant shortly after the trans shifts gears.
mine might be a little different cause I have a stage 2 kit in the transmission, I dont know what exactaly is in their, I gave it to my transmission guy and he put a bunch of stuff init, the seliniod pack now has a big circuit board on it and he had to do some drilling on the valve body.
mostly the difference is it shifts very firm and he said it has adaptive learning.
