heres an idea for ford

DETROIT — Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. (TM) leads the auto industry in retaining new vehicle buyers, according to a study released by JD Power and Associates on Wednesday.

better vehicles, customer satisfaction, better warrantys, will lead to this fact. i dropped my ford off at the dealer yesterday morning for body work to be done, my blind friend with his t-100 bumped into me on vacation this last week, enterprise was 1 mile down the road, they gave me directions how to get there, i could have asked for a ride there but wanted to see if they would offer one since im new to the ford family, no they didnt, they told me witch way it was to get there and watched me walk out the door and across the parking lot on foot. came back in once i was at the end of the lot to ask another question and to see if anyone would offer a ride, they didnt. i could use the exercise anyways but thought i would share that. The fish stinks from the head down.

I have found in this new world that if one wants something, they have to ask.... as most people these days won't just offer something.

ie: Does this dealership offer a replacement vehicle for a person with a vehicle in the body shop ?

Assuming a person needs a vehicle:
This type empathy is usually singled out to the individual ....it isn't corporate.

My ford dealer has a courtesy van. If I leave my truck they take me home and then come get me when it is ready. When I was putting the Altima seats in my Ranger, I called my service adviser (Ron) and told him I needed the wiring diagram for the seat pretensioners, he faxed them right away. When I had my '99 in for some body repair, I dropped off a rollpan I was going to install and they painted it free. That service is why I have bought four vehicles from them.

Ford dealers are individually owned, each one has it's own policies. At my ford dealer, if I have to leave my vehicle for repairs. they ask me if I want a loaner, they treat us like family. We've dealt with them since 1984. It's just a small town country dealer, but thier customer service is great. Being small, they don't have a large inventory, but if they don't have it, they'll order it or find it and do a dealer swap for me. They carry a couple of hundred new vehicles, so thier not bare, but some dealers a round here carry over a thousand. Anyway, I believe you get better service from a small dealer as they count on your return business.

Enterprise always picks me up when I need to rent a car from them. I understand that they are privately owned and only hire college graduates.

i could have asked but wanted to see for myself, i dont know if its just me but if i was in the position that the girl was in that i was talking to the first thing that i would have asked is do you need a ride?? or can i call enterprise for you??? thats what i had expected to here from a question that was asked by me, where is enterprise from here? not 1 mile down the road. yeah anyways i bought a new ford in august i guess there isnt a loaner plan for work to be done, considering its an out of state insurance claim and i can have the work done where ever i want, i gave them the money for this, not complaining im a big boy and do know how to ask can i get a ride, but just wanted to see for myself. VX is that enterprise college??

That's just your dealership...
I lost a fuel pump in Denver, 2000 miles from home. Called Ford the next morning, and got the number of the nearest dealership- John Elway Ford. Called them up, and brought the car in. They were well aware that I was unlikely to ever return there, but offered on two occasions to drive me back to my motel or to a shopping mall. They found that the fuel pump on that vehicle had been recalled, and replaced it under that recall. They also checked the brakes at my request, (they were fine) and didn't charge me for that either. The guy worked on my car for a couple hours, and it didn't cost me one cent (car was out of warranty).

Bottom line- they treated me right, even though they knew I was not going to be a repeat customer, and earned my respect. Maybe your dealership doesn't deserve your dollars...
