I went to a place to pick something up and when I came back out and started it up, it went to about 600 rpms and the accelerator did nothing. I mean I pushed to the floor and nothing. I put in gear and touched the brake and it died. It started back up no problem but just sat there at 600rpms. I shut it off and plugged the egr back in since that's the only thing that I have ever done to it and started it back up, it sat there at 600 for about 15 seconds and gradually came up to 800 or so rpms so I checked the accelerator and it worked fine. Hmmmm. I bought it back in July and haven't even changed the oil in it yet. I've put about 4k on it. Is it fuel filter, egr, or what???? The one thing I almost forgot is for the last week or so the turbo lag has really been bad. Maybe a turbo. Oasis report says its never been worked on and never had recalls done on it. Please help somebody! Its a 05 f350 cc drw fx4. Thanks
I didn't reply, because I don't really have any guess as to what is going on, other than perhaps a wiring chafe issue. I also don't agree with disconnecting EGR valves, but what do I know? It would be good to get it checked for codes to see if anything is there, but instead of doing that, I imagine that it's still under warranty, so why not get it fixed?
Yes take it in before you are really stranded in nowhere's land. Unless you have over 100K in miles you are covered. over 36K it costs $100 for deductable.
If you haven't changed the oil and it still has the original oil. This might be part of the problem but it could be other things. It is highly recommended by most people on this site to change oil for the first time at 1000 miles then go by the recommendations. Either normal or severe depending on driving habits.

The truck has 78,500 miles on it and I bought it at 74,500. I am going to change the oil at 80k and change the fuel filter at the same time. Like I said the OASIS report is clean and it needs recalls done on it. After this happened I checked 3 or 4 times later and it seemed to be fine. I 'm just really curious whether the week of really bad turbo lag is involved. Any ideas? Something........anything? Thanks
Had you gotten fuel and driven about 10+ miles when this happened? If so maybe fuel filter getting plugged on the frame. Lots of things are affected by not enough fuel getting to system.
I had burned about half a tank of fuel when this happened. It's just strange how the accelerator didn't work at all when it was idling at 600 or so rpms. I pushed it to the floor and it did nothing. I 'm going to take it in to the dealer next week and see if they can figure it out. Heck I'm scared to drive it for fear of it breaking down.
Mine did the same thing several times only mine didn't die. I steped on the throttle several times and the engine would not come off idle. After several tries it finaly throttled up very slowly. When I took it in they said the turbo was sticking and they replaced it with a newer version. The new tubo is suppost to have a wear ring to prevent this in the future. Hope this helps?
