Its a 86 Ford F-150 with 302 EFI. Going down the road sometimes it will JOLT and other times it will DIE. Some times it will start back and sometimes it wont. I have tried everything it has NEW WIRES, PLUGS, CAP AND ROTOR, FUEL PUMP RELAY, DISTRIBUTOR, IGN MODULE,COIL, MAP SENSOR, BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR (BOTH WAS CHECKED THEY SHOWED WAS BAD) ALL 3 FUEL PUMPS. Seems like when i replaced the battery and alternator it run good for about 15 miles then its started jolting and backfiring, and died it did start back up after a while but all the way home it jolted and backfired. I just cannot think of anything else. PLEASE need some advice
I see you like to throw parts at it before you properly diagnosed the "problems"...first thing before you buy another part..is to get a code reader (wallmart are about 25.00, digital display) then use it to find out what codes the computer is telling you that which is the problem(s).The first code will be the clue and then so on. After EACH problem is repaired, then it time to "reboot" the computer, then drive it normally (no racing - hard driving skills are not necessary...) for 10 miles or 30 min and then do a retest of what codes are left to "repair". Post them here and we'll help you with your problem(s)....Or you can throw more parts at it...
Also check your wire connection at your coil the green wire on the plug is the power wire make sure its clean.I just had to go thru this with my 86 302 efi runs good now so its worth a check.
I'm not sure where you sre but if its getting cold out it could be water in the fuel system freezing up add some Methyl Hydrate or whatever is called for on the EFI system.. I had mine freeze up and it took 1/2 litre before the problem went away.
thanks for all the help and the green wire ,i found one on my fender driver side that had got melted on exhaust manafold i fix it a wile back ,so i unpluged the coil and took a ohm meter to see if was the same wire ,and the meter just bearly read ,shoudn't it peg the meter?????????????????????????
