How Much Power Services ??

The Power Services bottle we have here at work says to use 96 ounces per 300 gallons or for a big boost in cleaning and Cetane #'s use 96 ounces per 150 gallons. Does that mean i will need like 20 ounces per 30 gallons ? that's kinda pricey isn't it ?

I use 16 ounces per fillup, which is typically 22-24 gallons in my 29 gallon tank. The math says that I can get 6 fillups from a 96 ounce container. The 96 ounce container runs about $14 where I am, which equates to $2.33 per fillup (14/6=2.3333).

Payback calcs (assuming that payback is strictly from increased fuel mileage, and no bennies from lubricity or eliminated charges associated with gelled fuel):

I need to save roughly one gallon of fuel per fillup, which would therefore require an increase in mileage of almost 4.5%. In other words, I would need to be able to travel 14-18 miles further on a tank than without the PS additive. To be honest, from one tank to another, it will be hard to prove that small change in the short run. I haven't personally used it long enough to track it over the long haul.

Now, if you assume better fuel lubricity and virtually no chances of gelled fuel, the requirement for increased mileage is less, thereby making it more likely that I am probably getting my money's worth in at least one of the 3 mentioned avenues of payback.

In the end, I'm willing to spend a couple of the $7.50 per month, which is what it totals up to for me and my driving.

You'll have to determine your own payback requirements, but it doesn't take a whole lot of mileage increase to pay for it these days.

i've been doing some experimenting with DK. i started to back off on how much i used per fill up. i started with 16oz like everyone else, truck runs great, and actually gained a mpg if i kept my foot off the gas.
i average 14 mpg with ULSD without DK, and 15mpg with 16oz DK. i started to use 12oz to see if there was a performance decrease or mpg decrease, and after 3 tanks ( i go through a tank on average of 10 days.) and i still have the same performance and still get 15mpg (if i keep the foot off the pedel). i know that there have been some threads as to how much to use, i'm thinking now that 12oz to 16oz is the 'sweet spot' on my PSD. so i'll get more return of value using 12oz, that means that the 96 oz bottle will save me 2 extra tanks of diesel if i only use 12oz per fill up.
i'm wondering how much lubrication that i'm missing with using 12 vs 16oz?

thanks.
