smog issues in cali

I just bought my dream ford, the '79 bronco ranger xlt, my dilemma, it has a perfectly fine 460 with cobra covers,edelbrock intake,holley 750carb, but it won't pass cali emissions this way, even if i add cat.conerters to the 3.5"flowmasters, so do i swap in a 90's 460efi with smog pumps and 02 sensors? i'd rather not have to replace a perfectly fine motor just to smog it, any ideas how i can avoid this? thanks for your input!!

Welcome, glad to have you, the Bronco on board. As for your California emission questions best to drop into the FTE Northern California Chapter and ask around in there.
