Head Light Problem????

Hey guys, I have a problem with the headlights on my 99 F 250 Super Duty.

The truck has a snow plow on it, and I have no low beam head lights on either the plow or the truck, only high beams. It does not matter if the plow is plugged in or not, still only have low beams. All the fuses that I can find that have anything to do with the head lights are good. I thought that the multi function switch was the problem, but that made no difference. I have power on both sides of all the fuses, but no power at the plug for the head light, when I have the low beams on. This truck has sealed beam lights, which I replaced a couple months ago, and also soldered on new pigtails for the lights, as the old ones were all green and corroded.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Fuse 9 & 11 are low beam r/f headlights. No mention of any relays in your manual. So if you have power across 9&11, but not at the socket, then you have a broken connection somewhere. Start at your connection and work towards the fuse box.

Well, it's been a while since I've done serious work on a plow truck...

When I was on my way out of the Frozen Northeast, the plow manufacturers were going to plug-in modules on both sides for the lights. I know Meyer had it, and I think they subbed out all their lighting to TruckLite.

They used to have two little black modules on both sides of the truck. You plugged a series of pigtails into them and then wired the modules back to one of the old Truck/Plow light switches to bring it all together. If you have that, I'd start by making sure all the harnesses are in the right places first and work my way back.

The plow is a Western Pro Plow. It looks to me, like they have wired the plow lights into the feed for the left light, and run a jumper harness to the right headlight. There are no modules that I can find, need to get the truck inside and take everything out on the left side that is in the way and see if I can trace the wires to see if one is broke.

Thanks Guys

Mike

Found the problem and fixed it. Low and behold, bolted below the canister on the driverside inner fender pannel, were 2, 5 prong relays, that were all green and nasty. I replaced them and cleaned up the wires, and everything is working fine now.

Thanks Guys

Mike
