shifting problems into 4x4
1997 F150 manual shift. When trying to shift into 4high or low shifting is very stiff and most times won't go into either. If I move shifter back and forth several times once in a while it goes in, what up with that.

Try disconnecting the linkage to the Transfer case and lubing it up. My brother had the same problem on his 97' 4x4 and when he brought it to the dealer they lubed it and it's worked fine since.....

my dad had the same problem (97 4x4), i think he took it in and had it lubed up or adjusted or something. If the lubing doesnt work, i would take it in to see if you could get it adjusted, then if that is a no go have it replaced. Ill ask my dad what the dealership did to make his shift smoothly.
