302 build up

I have a new 1995 302 truck motor I belive because it have the flat tappet cam not the roller. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what cc the combustion cambers are and what teh compression ratio would be? I would like to get a set of aluminum heads also and I am looking for suggestions they would have to have 1.90" intake valves so they clear the pistons.

It should have about 61cc combustion chambers and a nominal crompression ratio of 9:1.

Alumnum heads with 1.9 intake valves include:

GT40Y Turbo Swirls (don't the GT40X's use a 2.02"?)
Edelbrock Performers
AFR165's.

TFS Twisted Wedge heads will work in conjuction with the typical double eyebrow pistons if the cam has less duration than 225* @ .050, and about .540 lift, although they use a 2.02" intake valve. The TFS and the AFR heads are a level beyond the others in power potential.

I would probably lean toward the Turbo Swirls as first choice, for a truck application, and considering the money. Plus they are an easy bolt on, without the need for additional parts such as special pushrods, roller rocker arms...ect... They come with 64 or 58cc chambers. The TFS and the Edelbrocks are 61cc, and the AFR's can be ordered with either 58 or 61cc.

Any Ford dealer that carries FRP (Ford Racing) parts, will have them, or can get them. What I would do, is pickup any of the 5.0 Mustang magazines, and look through the adds. Oft times many of the FRP dealers will have GT40 aluminums on sale for way way less than list. Summit will probably have them, but they usually don't let their GT40 aluminum prices undercut TFS heads.

The GT40X heads have superceded the GT40Y's (and they usually come with 1.94" intake valves, not 2.02"). However, this usually means that left over GT40Y heads can be got for fairly cheap.

Usually GT40Y heads will be set up for stock type pedalstal mount rocker arms. Gt40X heads ofton are set up for stud mount adjustable rocker arms and guide plates, but not always. Guide plates require hardened pushrods.

Your 95 5.0 should have a roller cam, this is the F4TE roller. Specs are 256/266 (advertised) duration (not @.050) lift is .422/.448 (intake/exhaust) Chamber size for E7TE heads is 64cc give or take a couple ccs.

I've had the cam out of it and its not a roller its set up bor the roller stuff though. The guy I got it from works for Ford racing and said they have a bunch of them that were left over when the 302 was discontinued. Said he didnt know why it didnt have the roller cam. Anyways what would my compression go to if I went with a head with 58cc or 60c heads? I see AFR has a head that is set up for the pedastal rockers with 60cc dome and 165 rnners. Would these work good?

The pickup motor had like about a 9 to 1 ratio with E7TE heads. 58 cc would raise that somewhat to 9.5 to1 or better. I don't have a calculator handy to figure it. If you were going to use the stcok cam(I wouldn't) you'd have absolutely no issues with valve clearances. You can go with a B303 roller and 1.7 rockers and still have no worries. I've used that cam and rockers with a stock shortblock and 1.9 valved Canfield heads. And the heads were milled .060.
