My new baby still in the oven

ordered my new F250 in october and finally it is in the process of shipping. My sister-in-law works in a testing lab so I got to check it out before shipping. I also drove it around the plant parking lot some.

Wow, that's gotta be a cool experience.

Just curious, why'd you go for the supercab as opposed to the crew? Length, cost, ???

I ask many years ago the same question of picking up a vehicle at the factory to save shipping cost. It was explained to me that you would still be charged the shipping cost if picked up at the factory as it is tied to Union contracts with car carrier fleets. Gotta love that Union job protection driving the costs up.

length was the reason for me....shorter the better

it was really nice to walk around in the plant and watch the whole process taking place. Some nice looking women on the assembly line too. The chick putting the engines on the frames was smokin hot. I stood there for about 15 minutes . She basically just guided it onto the engine mounts and sent it on it's way. The fan on the diesels is huge!! They look like jet engines coming down the line. I'm hoping to get on at the plant part time to supplement my income. I'm on the list so we'll see. It would be great to put these trucks together. The 2008's were all over the place being tested and what not. I also got to ride in one of the trucks over the test track which is basically a bunch of speed bumps and a big concrete mound to crawl over to check for rattles or missing bushings etc. Place was truck heaven for me!

I tried that route believe me....not even the employee's can take one home...they have to go thru the same BS. I hate the thought of some goofball driving my truck on and off a carrier. There is no telling how many people will be in and out of my truck by the time I finally get it...hate that! Be nice if they were crated and shrink wrapped at the end of the line and dropped and the end of my driveway for me to unwrap.

i'm the same way. I had my dealer find my truck for me, and someone drove it from 50 miles away in my state, to the dealer for a swap. I didn't know if the guy was smoking, etc. if he beat it. ya just never know. I'm past that now and love the truck. it's just part of life. we would all love to have a vehicle with 0.0 on the odometer when we get them but doesn't happen that way, at least not to me. lol.

I work for Ford Motor Co. up here in Canada. At the Oakville Assebly Complex. We at one time did buid the F series trucks. From the F150 all the way up to the F350. It was an experiance to watch them being built. Now we are building the new Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX.

Silver,

That is a cool experience. How did you get an order in October? I tried ordering mine on 9/24 and Ford wouldn't accept the order saying production was over.

Looks like I had a fast one pulled over on me.

ordered on 10/5....I know I was real close to the cutoff date. Maybe because it was an a-plan order...not sure
