Folks, I have had my windshield replaced on my 04 F-150 S-Crew, and there seems to be a leak - sounds like a tornado although there's no wind, aside from the movement of the truck. I have had the truck in two times to have the windshield resealed, and then completely removed and resealed. The glass shop says they have heard of this issue before because of the new body style. Anybody else encountered this issue or heard of it before?
I've never had the windshield replaced and have no wind noise. But when it's really cold out (today was 25 degrees) I get intermittent clicking noises from the lower aspect of the windshield when going over irregular road surfaces. This happens until it heats up from the defroster (about 10 minutes).
Is there anyway for you to pinpoint the location of the noise and do you feel a breeze anywhere around the windshield perimeter? I'm wondering if the track that the windshield sits in is too large for the sealant material or weatherstripping, and in certain conditions, when the material shrinks a bit, this becomes noticeable. Picture a trying to put a bead of window caulk in an opening that's too large. Just an idea. This is a very LARGE windshield and may be prone to problems not seen in earlier models.
I heard this noise in my 04 S Crew for the first time this weekend on the highway, I was woundering when my windshild was going to just fly off It was 7 degrees out and I was doing 70 mph on a straight highway.

I have heard that same wind noise 06 S Crew this is my first ford and that is my only complaint I have ran the truck thru car washes and no water comes in so its not a leak
There is definitely no leaking or any problems with warm weather. That's what leads me to belief that shrinkage of the sealant or weather stripping form the very cold weather is contributing to a slight instability of the windshield. I wonder if there are any TSB's regarding this.
I have this problem also in my 06. It was there this past January and after talking with a few guys, what it is, is the gap that runs along the top of the windshield. There is quite a gap between the windshield and the body. Try this, run masking tape along the whole top edge of the windshield, then drive around and see if it stops. Mine did. One fella actually filled in the gap with black silicone (I know, not something I would want to do on my 40k truck).

noticed my 05 sounds like it is leaking air at the wind shield, and if it leaks air at the bottom you may not notice any water.i noticed in freezing temps a clicking or creaking noise,i got out and noticed the plastic cowl below the wind shield almost touches the wind shield, and ice had frozen in the small gap.i tapped the ice loose with the scraper brush, the sound was gone when i drove away .
I get it with or without ice or frost on the windshield. Just temp related. Although I too have noticed how close the exterior trim is to the glass, (it actually touches in some spots). I have issues with the plastic pieces at the base of the windshield, where the wipers are. Those 2 pieces never seemed to fit right on my truck. I have to consistently realign them, with the hood open, and "snap" them back together. oh well. As long as my windshield doesn't come off, or worse, fly into my vehicle while I'm on the highway.
Thanks for all the comments 'guys'. I cannot say if this is because of the weather, as I just bought the truck 2 weeks ago and it won't be warm until March (at the earliest). I know there isn't a leak, as I've had it through the wash and there is no residue/water in the interior after the wash. It sounds like the noise is from the top and along the sides of the windshield. I may try putting masking tape on the outside and drive around, as suggested by 96F150 (thanks), and if that works...I'll just get some red duct tape! That aught to do 'er! I'll let you know how it works.

TM.
I bought mine in late march and only does it when its really windy.
My 04 screw started having wind noise after the first month or so. I have had it back to Ford service 3 or 4 times, they test drove the truck and agree that there is wind noise coming from the windshield. They have replaced the glass and applied sealant , the noise always comes back. They gave me an 06 loaner to drive last time and it was noisier than my 04. I have pretty much given up on having it corrected ,unless someone here has a cure, other than driving around with tape.
