52 axle questions:

I'm trying to learn about my 52 F-3 and am uncertain what my rear axle is. Near as I can tell it is the stock unit with 17 inch wheels. It is an 8 bolt unit and appears to be a full floater (maybe a semi float) the housing unbolts in the middle and looks like it separates the whole unit into 2 halves, anybody got any guesses? If so, anybody know where I should look to find a serial number on it? It looks to be in very good working order, so I may end up keeping it, just wanna know what I have.. thanks

Is there a metal tag attached by one of the housing bolts? If so, what numbers are on the tag?

52 axle questions:

It sounds like you have the stock axle. It is a full-floating type with a 4.86:1 gear ratio. The manual refers to it as a "split housing, spiral bevel" type.
