Block heater?

I plugged in my 99PSD in this morning and left to run some erands about 5 hrs later. The coolant needle was still bottomed out and the truck started like I hadn't even plugged it in. In the past the needle has always been arount the bottom line at the C or just above the C line. Has the heating eliment gone out?

Thanks for any help.

I plugged mine in last night for the helluvit, ~10 hours. I have no problems starting in the morning, and i can even crank it over without waiting for the plugs. But i get copious amounts of white smoke for a few seconds. I found the cord and left it plugged in overnight. This morning i went out and cranked it over without waiting for the plugs. It fired instantly, and no smoke whatsoever out of the stacks. It was like i had just started a warm engine. Even hot air in the vents within 10 seconds. Dad doesn't know how much electricity it sucks down, so he says plug it in whenever you want!

I can tell my block heater is working because when i plug her in the garage lights dim. LOL!

Actually Kris, depending on what your utility bills are like where you live, you might do some calculations. Calculate how much electricity your truck actually pulls as compared to your usage and how much you are paying.

I did a quick calc and see that I am paying probably .20 cents or so per hour.
