I'm looking to do a lift on a 79 Bronco, and was wondering if there where any factory coils that where taller than the stock ones. Or how much height difference I would get out of them.
I am running a stock 78 Bronco with no lift and 35's. The tires rub just a bit at full stuff and tires turned all the way in either direction, but not much. A few trail "modifications" helped (ie tree stumps and rocks) to push the front of the fenders clear of the tires.
I have a 429 in it, and putting 35" on it.. I think total I'll do a shackle flip in the rear, and then adjust the front to match, but that's not until next year.
You might want some stiff 4" lift coils that can hold the weight of that 429. I'm useing Dever coil springs, that are suposed to hold the true height they claim without sagging like superlift or rough country coils tend to do, and the rear shackle flip will lift it 3", which should come out level, b/c the back is already taller than the front stock.
You can fit 35s stock, but you won't have much room for flex, and will probably have some rubbing. You might need some extended brake lines and a drop pitman arm, and you'll need a trac bar drop bracket, 7 degree c buhings, some grade 8 bolts for the shackle flip.
Several people in the off road forum have done the shackle flip, and it gets 3"s for all of them. There is a company called skymanufacturing, that makes a kit that claims 4.5", but a couple people have used it, and only got 3".
Broncograveyard.com sells Dever coils and I got my 6" ones for $160, and I the 4"ers are $140 http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-...ils_4_inch.htm
Hey one more question, in the rear suspension of the bronco, is it standard to have a approx 2" block under the rear leafs? Just curious, as I'm not sure if this was added afterwards..
