out a major hitch. 32k had the water in fuel light sensor go bad and fixed without any problems. about 2 weeks ago I noticed and posted here of a slow dripping leak that was clear but greasy feeling. Took it into the dealer Thursday night so they could see the drip and determine what it was and where it was coming from. Friday morning around 10 they call and say it was a EGR hose on the back of the engine that was leaking and for the most part the top half of the engine was off and they would have it back together that afternoon. around 2:30 I decided to call back and make sure it was gonna be ready so my wife could pick it up(I'm out of town). Dealer says we have good news, bad news and worse news. OKAY give it to me: good news-wasnt the EGR hose afterall but while fixing did find the problem. BAD NEWS - -not going to get it back until about a week or so worse news- right side head gasket leaking the coolant.
So it is covered in warranty but what can I expect in the future for problems from the head gasket leaking? Or if fixed correctly will this be it for the most part?
I have ran a superchips tuner sine about 5ooo miles on the engine and it does help with fuel economy. I dont dog the truck around or tow extremely heavy weights while it is tuned. what would be the best scenario from here on out?
no tuner = less fuel economy
tuner = future problems?
Again - the truck isnt dog around by any means and mostly petted in a rough way.
ANy help or guidance?
Whether you "dog it" or not as you state... the tuner builds extra HP in your motor. More HP, comes from more fuel and more air.... more of each (when combined of course) means more pressure and heat.
More pressure and heat... can cause head gasket problems. Can you expect more of this in the future... no way to tell... and with a tuner, you risk warrenty denial... but that is your choice.
Are they replacing both head gaskets or the just the leaking one? I would hope both, but that is you and your dealers call... or maybe Ford's.
Good luck... but there is no way to answer your question if and when it will or may happen again.... sometimes they just do... and other times you bet when a tuner is used.
