Sqweek/squeel when cold
If my truck is not used for a day or two when I start it up it has a fairly loud squeel under the hood until it warms up real good[or I cant hear it over the engine noise as I'm driving]. My suspicion is a failing idler pulley-166,00 mi. on truck. Anyone have any experience/suggestions of the source of the noise? Also, where can I purchase an idler pulley at a reasonable price? I obviously dont want to get it from Ford.

I've had one drip some coolant on the belt after its been sitting for a few days and make it squeell. It will go away once the belt turning has burned off the coolant. You might try looking at that

Belt only has about 20k on it. Funny thing, yesterday after I posted the question, I went out to start the truck, its benn sitting for three days,temps have the coldest so far this year, and no squeel. ???????
