Low mpg

well,I filled the tank today 'cuz my new AFE stage 1 arrived and I installed it.. I wanted to see what kind of mileage I get now that it is on.. The old filter, which is two months old and 4K miles on it, was all covered with dirt and oil and I don't know if that's normal or not.. The other thing is that this is my third consecutive tank with sub 11 mpg and I don't think that's normal either..I did have one tank of 250 miles of mixed towing and non with about 75% tow and got 11.4 mpg on that one..I only have a six mile one-way commute and so mebbee it's not getting warm enuff, although I have been plugging it in and it gets about 2 hours in the AM of heating and then warm it up for about five minutes...
I really need some advice here 'cuz I'm not getting any better mileage than I did on my 7.4L Burb, except for towing and the burb got 6.5 MPG there...Also the price of diesel at our Safeway here in Silverdale was 2.91 with my $.10 discount.. What are we gonna see with more winter coming..My fuel oil was that much and there's no road taxes on that...

if you are pluging it in you should not have to warm the truck up, when you run the truck thats where you are loosing thee mileage if you want a warm truck i suggest a ceramic heater to come on at the same time as the block heater

I am calculating it by hand.. The tank computer average reads 13.6 and the calculator average was 10.1 mpg..The miles to go doesn't agree either..At 10.1 mpg,I should get about 440 miles to the tank and the overhead at 13.6 avg mpg shows 412 to empty...
