poor gas mileage

im only getting about 10 miles to the gallon on my 87 bronco 2 4x4.Just had a major tune up and cat converter done among other things.Im also having to push it hard on the highway before it "catches." what on earth could cause this? could a vacuum leak cause that as well?

I do not smell gas.All i smell is oil from the leaking valve cover gasket.The truck WAS running rich but after $1300 of work thats been fixed, so no smoke at all.I do know it needs an air idle.How would i check the regulator? Injectors? How much am i looking at to replace these?Im so frustrated, what started as a good deal has already cost me 2k and its still needs work! Please help.

What size tires and gear ratio are you running? Is your speedo correct?

If you have not already done so check to make certain that the engine temperature is correct. Mine was burning a lot of gas because it was running too cold, changing the thermostat helped a lot.
