Generator Light:
After start-up the generator light does not go out?It is a 1960 F-100 with 292 in it.The gen. and voltage reg. are suppose to be good!I made sure the voltage reg. was grounded good to the fender.The belt is good and tight.This truck has been taken apart and maybe some wiring is not right and is there a need to polarize the reg. or anything?I am lost on this one,does anyone have any ideas.

Generator Light:
Take a meter and read the battery voltage with the truck off. Whatever the reading is carefully note it. Then get the truck started and take another reading. The voltage should be higher than the first reading-significantly higher if the battery is low. If the meter doesn't read higher, it's not charging and the light is probably working. I can't remember, so maybe somebody will chime in on this, but you either put 12v on the "field" terminal, or you ground it, and it will activate the generator to full ouput. You should hear it load down, and the voltage should go way up on the battery. This would mean the gen is good.
